Affordable Housing: How to Apply

The Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) works with real estate professionals and community sponsors who sell or rent apartments at affordable prices to low- and moderate-income households. This is different from Public Housing and Section 8 Housing. To apply, participants must register with NYC Housing Connect.
There is also an “Affordable Housing Hotline” run by the City that you can access by calling 311.
