Juvenile Defender Offices

In New York, children under 16 are charged in Family Court for most offenses.

The Legal Aid Society provides free defense to juvenile clients facing criminal charges in Family Court.

A juvenile should be connected to the juvenile office that is in the jurisdiction where they are set to appear in court. For example, if a juvenile is to appear in Brooklyn Family Court, they should connect to the Brooklyn office of the Legal Aid Society.

After figuring out which office to call, make sure to refer to how to speak to public defenders.
